I have been a County Commissioner since 2008 and I am currently Vice-Chair of the Board. I have been working in our community since moving to Chapel Hill in 1986, and I have served the public good in numerous ways over the last 25 years. I have held various public offices, including holding elected office as a member and former chair of the CHCCS Board of Education. I enjoy listening to stakeholders and trying to help our community become the best it can be.
Previous to my involvement in public service, I worked as a business manager in several industries (computer, real estate, venture capital). I have a strong background in financial accounting and budgeting, and have served as a bookkeeper and financial planner for several local non-profit organizations.
I am married to Brad Hemminger, an associate professor at the School of Information and Library Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. We have four children who have spent a combined 49 years in the Chapel Hill Carrboro school system. Three have graduated and are now in college, and our youngest has just started high school.
